2017 is almost over and all I can say is that it was a challenging one. I did so much this year and so many good things have happened, but there were also a lot of things I wish I could have accomplished. Like those dumbells I bought but never used. Now 2018 is right around the corner the time to make a New Year resolution has come. This is actually the perfect time to evaluate our lives and think of ways we can change our lives. However, setting a New Year resolution is quite simple rather than implementing these resolutions. This is exactly why I’ve gathered some tips to help everyone create New Year’s resolutions that are not only realistic but perfect for everyone who wants to revamp their lifestyles. These tips are as follows:
1. Sit down and evaluate your life
The very first step in creating the perfect New Year’s resolution is sitting down and scrutinizing your life from every aspect. Do some soul searching and think of the life you are in now, in 2017. Take an honest look at the habits and decisions you made that got you where you are. Do not make the common mistake of letting your shortcomings bring you down. Simply look at these shortcomings as challenges that you can overcome next year. I recommend creating a list of areas in your life where you can improve and also consider a realistic time frame.
The top four areas you should focus on include:
Write what you want your life to look like in these areas, and then the actions you want to take.
2. Break down your list into smaller achievable goals
The next tip I would like all my readers to consider is streamlining their list of New Year’s Resolutions. Most people make the common mistake of making a list of endless resolutions that are not even realistic or achievable.
Scrutinize your list and all of the goals you have written and prioritize them according to their importance. Difficult and more important goals should be at the very top of your list. Make sure you allow a realistic time frame for each of these goals.
Furthermore, if your list includes a variety of goals then you should consider cutting a few of them out, you have to achieve a lot next year so don’t overdo it to make things easier for you. You cannot achieve all of your goals within a couple of days, so plan accordingly! Remember Rome was not built in a day and neither can your dreams.
3. Focus on your goals and stay happy
The end of the year can be very difficult for people who have had to deal with a lot. There are a lot of people out there who would consider 2017 as a horrid year but that does not mean next year has to be the same. How you approach the year plays an integral role in how you achieve all of your goals, so stay positive and get things done. I understand that this is not easy for people who have witnessed life changing events in 2017, but next year could hold events which can change your life for the better.
These three tips are designed for everyone out there who wants take charge of their lives and achieve their respective goals. Remember the sky is the limit, all you need is the right attitude and mindset. Are there any other New Year resolution tips we missed? Be sure to let us know on our Facebook page!
